Four Keys to Happiness (Part II)

There are four main chemicals in our brains that set the foundation for happiness: Serotonin (the mood booster), Endorphin (the painkiller), Dopamine (the ‘reward’ chemical), and Oxytocin (the ‘love’ chemical). In this post, we will zero-in on how to hack that painkilling superhero, the Endorphin.

Watch a comedy

Laughter is an impressively effective painkiller. Discomfort is often largely reduced when we’re in good humor, thanks to the boatload of endorphins dumped into our bloodstream’s harbor. Those chuckles do more than just vanquish pain; in addition, laughter eliminates stress, soothes tense muscles, and boosts the immune system!

Exercise, exercise, exercise

Throwing down a few push-ups is good for more than just cardio; exercise also has the same painkilling effect as a mild dose of morphine! The feel-good vibes that come with a little heart-pumping action are the only side effects you’ll experience!

Fill the air with essential oils

Studies have shown that the sensational scent of essential oils offer calm, and a sense of well-being. This is due to the brain’s ability to link certain smells to pleasant memories, thus releasing endorphins.

Have a cup of hot chocolate

Could there be a better way to capture those busy little endorphins? Certain compounds found within dark chocolate encourage endorphin release, thereby fighting discomfort with each delectable sip.
